History and Culture
Blevins Middle School, a neighborhood school, is named for Theodore Roosevelt Blevins, a?long-time educator, coach, and WWI Silver Star recipient. Opened in 1968, Blevins focuses on the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students. A character education curriculum,
along with the 6-P’s, promote the safety, respect and dignity of every student.
Academics and Activities
With its Pre-Advanced Placement in 7th and 8th grades and AVID programming, Blevins supports PSD’s curriculum goals with rigorous academic focus. ?In addition, Blevins provides strong programming in the arts and with athletics to support the development of the “whole child.” ?Blevins is proud of its Pre-AP programming which prepares students for AP course work in high school. ?Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) are offered to support the individual needs of all our students such as remediate literacy and numeracy support, enrichment, as well as Gifted programming. ?Extra-curricular activities include Athletics, WEB, Science Olympiad, Science Fair, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Math Counts, Lego Robotics, Coding, Dungeons and Dragons, Debate, Running Club, Talent Show, Yearbook activities, band, orchestra and choir.
